It's said it might affect other high-bandwidth programs negatively.
But I've been using it for some time now and havent noticed anything. =)

Think i changed that setting about 2 years ago already; there are some other stuff you can do too use at own risk. Can always change it back though.
Im usually around 35 ms in wow ui from the Netherlands. If your connection/backbone/isp is overloaded/crappy it won't fix it though.
