The usual writeup from BlizzCon I think.
Captured the highlights from that gamer.nl article below.
- Patch 1.9, the ninth patch since release of the game.
- Opening the gates of Ahn'Qiraj requires everyone to pitch in - from level 10 warriors to level 60 druids.
- If the player population on a server is slacking the doors will unlock itself after a month or so.
- Will take two to three weeks before players are expected to have accumulated and cashed in the components needed to open the gates.
- The Gate Opening event and quests will be one time only, the gates will stay open after the event.
- Ahn'Qiraj consists out of two instances. A 20-person outdoor raid, inside which is the entrance to the 40-person indoor raid instance.
- The Ahn'Qiraj indoor raid instance is, according to this article, roughly equivalent to Molten Core's difficulty.
- The Temple's endbosses are the emperors known as Vek'nilash and Vek'lor.
- The Temple's instance is about 50x larger then one of the wings of the Scarlet Monestary.
- There are special... mounts... of sorts inside the 40-man raid instance that only exist and work inside Ahn'Qiraj's temple.
- You don't need to be MC equipped for Ahn'Qiraj - they're aiming for folks with ZG gear that can do Ahn'Qiraj.
- No release date known for the patch. While Blizzard's motto's "It's done when it's done" you can expect the patch to arrive this year still.
- Tier 2 sets are updated in looks.
- In the same sentence as the "tier 2 looks" there's mentioned that enchanters will be getting something.

i was under the impression that the 40 man instance should be for people that cleared BWL?
or is it the 20 man outdoor raid instance thats for ZG people whereas the raidinstance is for the tier2 decked guilds?
or are they mearly providing us with an alternative to MC so were not totally sick of MC before going to BWL, thats nice but most guilds will do both instead so thats just twice the amount of raiding

Just translating the highlights from the article, not vouching for it's integrity, Morlog
Having read the passage about Ahn'Qiraj and MC again I can confirm that they mention the difficulty of Molten Core to be roughly on par with the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj. And that Temple's the 40 man raid instance.

Translation: "Once you've carved your way through the many Silithid and Qiraji bugs and creatures your Guild can try to explore the 40 man raid instance dungeon. With roughly the same difficulty as Molten Core, it's the intention in the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj to stop the two Emperors of the Qiraji, Vek'nilash and Vek'lor, and to let them know that there's no place for this evil race on Azeroth."Pas als je jezelf een weg gebaand hebt door de vele Sithilid en Qiraji insecten en gedrochten kan je Guild eens proberen de 40 personen instance dungeon te gaan verkennen.
