I would not buy a second-hand French car, unless it has less than 40.000 kilometres on the counter

French cars (Renault/Peugeot) are pretty good and cheap on fuel when they are new, and not very expensive when new either, but their engines start giving trouble after a couple of years.

I've experienced this myself and heard other people with similar experiences. French cars are nice to buy new, but they deteriorate very fast compared to German cars for example.

well the new peugeot 407 had a very big problem
with their engines in cold climates was very
noticable this last winter in sweden wich was pretty cold.
had a glitch in their camshaft ventilation same problem with other peugeot models who had the same engine.
