This has a number of effects. First of all, activating ZHC/ToEP wont retroactively buff your DoTs. On the other hand, if you cast Corruption with the +280 dmg bonus from ZHC, it will have +280 dmg for its entire duration. And finally, when you die DoTs wont lose half of their damage anymore.Damage over time spells are no longer affected by changes in equipment after the cast.
I think one reason why "we" value it is because its a good buff for SL built warlocks to farm without downtime. Lets face it..
