new TFT monitor
new TFT monitor
im about to buy a new monitor. atm im looking at TFT widescreens monitors.
the question is about the response time.
well in world of warcraft i dont think 16ms wont be any problems, however will it be any problems in FPS games, i know this is very different interpreted from person to person. some can look at his old VGA from -73 and say it looks great! and some ppl the other way around. same goes for audio
so ppl with normal eyevision can state their opinions (no blind folks and no eye hawks are to be included)
thanks in advance

Maybe a bit over the top for you but im using an 24" widescreen for several months now mainly play WoW on it but also some battlefield fps. I play games in its native res at 1920x1200 now.(intel core2duo at 3,2 ghz 2 gig ram 7950gx2 vidcard )
Response time quoted on monitors is not entirely accurate too to measure this most manuafacters supply an best case scenario here aka in one situation it might be 4 ms response time but in a bad situation it might be 30 really best to just look up reviews on tthe net when you decided which one you want.

I use vsync usually to cap fps at 60 so it doesnt go over 60 fps and gets tearing. I dont notice any lag with this thing there supposed to be some small delay though some old tft monitors also suffered from ghosting i can say thats as good ad nonexcistant on this one(never saw it myself).
I really recommend an zero dead pixel guarantee to go with the monitor though i got it with mine and replaced it twice for free for one dead pixel .

samsung would have been the winner if not all the suppliers in sweden was following samsungs pixel(crappy)policy so strictly.
couldnt find anyone who didnt follow them :/
thanks alot versus for your time and help

Make sure your vidcard btw is at least an geforce 6 or higher or it wont be able to run 1920x1200 through dvi. Dvi spec originally wasnt designed for that high resolutions. Geforce 6 and up use a technical trick to make it work with an normal dvi hookup on the card or if it has an true dualdvi-d connection it will work too.
Actually if you value money for value best i would go for the dell. I dunno about apple dead pixel policy but with dell i though you can return anything no questions asked i thought for up to 8 days.(i know a lot of us/nl costumers did that at least if they had 1 dead pixel or backlight bleeding etc)You really want the 24" width at 1920x1200 imo .

haha yeah 24" is really nice but pixel failure usually shows within 1-3months.
i dont think 23" or 24" inch is such a big difference if u had 19" before. either is really an big upgrade

Yeah bit luck of the draw my first 2 monitors actually both were perfect at the start but gave 1 dead pixel both within a week both actually had the second one for 2 more months before i switched him but still one dead pixel. That card will do fine btw.
HF with the new monitor; WoW at 1920x1200 on widescreen is glorious!

Just a tip... There's a guy selling DELL monitors on ebay etc called "supradictus". He's even cheaper then DELL and gives a 100% pixel ok insurance. Since I have read many good reports about this guy I would personally trust him. It's just that 800 euro is a lot, and it's still 16ms Black to white, 8ms grey to grey. Don't know if that's "good" enough.
thats all good for WOW, pretty sure it is in FPS also, varies very great from person to personKingeling wrote:Just a tip... There's a guy selling DELL monitors on ebay etc called "supradictus".
