AION
yea pre-ordered that also. store dude just told me to send an email with preorder stuff (username, date, adress etc) to betakey@gamemania.nl and I'd get a key. Waiting patiently now
You have to set the launcher to EU region in the settings (it still says AION (US) but it works). Then you get the notice that you can't play yet or something since the beta is still closed.sudo wrote:does it let you log in? I get a user / password dont match error, but might be cause beta isnt up ?
I ain't leaving without your soul and I am sober this time.

thoughts so far;
pro;
- looks nice
- spell chain system is fun
con;
- translation isnt too hot (the ingame help link still goes to korean
- boring quests (all of em are kill x and deliver that so far)
- very grindy. all enemies do the exact same thing, so its rince repeat on the skill buttons
- flying is somewhat awkward, but maybe need getting used to ..different from wow mounts, seems harder to keep your bearings
- crafting reminds me of daoc, losing mats when you fail is annoying (could end the craft when you get too close to a fail I suppose though)
- paying to use a bindstone..
couldnt really try pvp, only area that's possible atm is arena, which is a cluster fuck with 20 enemies waiting for you to port in and raping you instantly
trying to find a game with that daoc pvp feel, this might be it, but too early to tell. Get bored pretty fast once the initial 'oh this looks nice' wears off ..

I didn't look at the translations much.
pro's:
- The build in quest help is nice for locs of the npc's etc.
- Looks and runs really smooth
- Flying (I fly the same as in WoW, autorun and steer with mouse) and gliding.
- Flightpaths to and from every hub you get too (teleportation to further regions)
- Paying for binding is a non issue imo. Gold is easy to come by.
cons:
- You can't cast insta spells on the run. You stop to cast them.
- Crafting looks nice but is a bit boring but I find all crafting boring.
- If you are out of range of the mob you want to attack you will walk to it untill you can cast and then start to cast.
Looking forward to checking out wormholes that go into enemy territory and pvp zones. If there is enough to do it might be a really nice game. I liked the first 10 levels at least. If they do worldpvp better then wow it might be nice just for that. Also read some good stuff about rvr instances with bosses in them (some info: http://www.aionsource.com/forum/news-an ... -news.html)
