The old character is not deleted nor consumed. You just have to have a level 55 char on the account and then you can create a new deathknight NEXT TO that char that you already had. And the deathknight always starts at 55 when you create it new.
So if you have a level 70 you can create a deathknight and it will start at 55 and the level 70 char wil also remain.

complicated stuff !

just see the DK as an unlockable class, which you will be able to create only if you have a level 55+ char character on that server (and later, on the account)

dinged 80 y'day. 3 days 6 hrs .. pretty sure I can do it in under 3 days on live ..

You do know we got 80 premades a few weeks back right? :p
Anyhow i will prolly play my din for live healers more needed then tanks and i like the no potion no downranking fixes with heal. Can tank too with the talent switch feel the din tanking is a bit better too still shield is huge with blocking after avoidance and less reliant on cooldowns; prolly will play dk on the side as dps monkey.

yea but I just wanted to actually beta test by doing quests! Filed 30 reports on bugged shit or something

plus I intend to rush to 80 and this way I could take the time to actually read the quests

so what stats are important for deathknights dps? spellpower?

and for tanking? spellpower?

ie is it warrior/retadin gear or prot/holy din gear?

AFAIK it's the same gear as warriors and retribution paladins use.

i thought so aswell but then ahenima and me talked about tanking and since frost tree is more spells we wondered if spellpower gear factored in there somewhere

All deathknight abilities and spells only scale with ap spellpower has zero impact.
