server seems down

Post by Deadleg »

Stuck at connecting and getting "unable to connect" after a short while seems to be happening to most players but some are able to play on alts.

update from blizz

Hello everyone,

We've investigating this right now. It seems some people from some ISPs are unable to connect to certain realms.

If you're having a problem where you cannot connect to one particular realm, but you're fine with most if not all of the others, please reply here stating which ISP you're with.

Possible solution:
Hello people

A lot of people seem to be unable to get their characters, or even connect to the servers this morning. I couldnt even connect myself, and I tried restarting internet connection and router, didnt help.

I then tried something, which worked, and has worked for others - it may work for you as well :)

In the following, you are not going to type the "" I've put it, theyre just there to indicate which parts of text you're going to use.

Go to Start > run > type "cmd" and hit enter

Now, in the black window, type "ipconfig" and hit enter

Now, type "ipconfig /release" and hit enter

Type "ipconfig /renew" and hit enter

You can now close the window.

If youre lucky, this makes you able to play WoW again. Good luck :)

or try the following

Go to the Start Menu, then Run, then type 'CMD' and press OK. When you get the Command Prompt up, please type this: ipconfig /flushdns

and then try to log on again
